I have a question, I hope someone can help me, haha So, I found a really cute blouse that is in Asian size S, M, L, and XL I’m usually US size XS or S, though more often than not I’m an XS when it comes to blouses What blouse size should I get? As a super white person who has lived in America all my life, I feel like I understand how it might be as an East Asian who lives in America I am 4 foot 8 inches and almost everything I try on is big on me, unless I go to a shop like Charlotte Russe where the stuff is meant for significantly smaller people Waistlines are too low, so short body-con type dresses become a knee length instead of a booty length Pants are always either bunched at my ankles with a wider leg width than my legs or have a huge waistline and long legs, but the leg width fits I'd order more Japanese/Korean clothing but it's so pricey compared to just getting stuff at stores here in the US I also have to wear kid's sized shoes because I'm either a 5 or 6 in US (depending on the brand), and women's starts around 6-65 so I usually end up in the kids section, often for pants too I can deal with a baggy or weird fitting shirt, so I can just go for an XS shirt in most shops

Most Asian Ls are an American S That's y when I buy stuff in the States, I'm a size S and I'm like wthbrBeing a size 4-6 is so much easier in the west then in any parts of Asia Like I'm always made to feel so big in Asian sizing and everyone around me is always smaller Like most of my Asian friends are a size 0 and it kinda sucks to be the biggest amongst them and not be able to find clothes that are my size, in Asia But I really appreciate how inclusive the western sizes are

I feel like it make sense that the dresses aren't cinched, the traditional hanbok doesn't show off your waist so there isn't the idea that the hourglass silhouette is the only way for a woman to look beautiful Unlike in the west with our history of corsetry going back hundreds of years It's been part of our culture to see silhouettes like that as the most flattering and ideal

i’m 2 months too late but fuuuu this is too true, i go to korea every other year and a free size shirt is completely fine (i’m 5’3 and 130ibs) but when i went to buy pants i had to get ones that were enough to fit my butt and thighs but HUGE on my waist :/ and for skirts i would have to buy a medium even though it fits a little tight bc the large is too big??? the sizing in korea confuses me too much
